Pondok Indah Mall

Pondok Indah Mall (abbreviated 'PIM') is a large shopping complex located in Pondok Indah, South Jakarta, Indonesia. Popular with expatriates and affluent locals, the complex was designed to have the appearance of an American shopping mall. The complex comprises a five-floor shopping mall, two cineplexes, two department stores and nearly 400 specialty shops.

The mall is anchored by Metro Department Store, Gramedia Bookstore and Hero Supermarket. The mall also has an outdoor waterpark and a six-screen cineplex, Pondok Indah 21, the largest in its time. In 1996, the famous Pondok Indah pedestrian bridge opened to the public. It was equipped with air conditioning and two lifts on each side, making it the most expensive pedestrian bridge to be built in Jakarta. At the same time, the first advertisement banner was displayed across from the mall, introducing the exterior design of the future expansion which comprises an apartment tower, a hotel and a shopping centre. However, the plan was soon scrapped due to the Asian Financial Crisis.

After a change of ownership, the expansion was finally realized in 2004 with the opening of Mall 2. An all-new design is introduced with no relation to the previous design. The pedestrian bridge was torn down to make way for the two multi level skybridges that link the two malls. Mall 2 comprises four levels of shopping centre with Sogo Department Store as its anchor tenant. More upscale designer boutiques such as Versace and Aigner are on the ground floor. A new cinema with four screens is located on the fourth floor, adjacent to the restaurant row and food court.
